Janet Jackson - Escapade (Gigamesh Remix)6.13.24

I feel like this song is the quintessential Minneapolis sound. It's such a jam. I love how it has maximalist studio production but with an incredibly simple structure & orchestration other than all the layering of Janet's vocal tracks. It's a great demonstration of how drums & vocals are the most important elements in club music (imho).

I got booked to headline a block party in Minneapolis this weekend (Pyres Block Party). It's the first time I'll be DJing there in many years, so I decided to make something special for the occasion. I made sure to draw a lot of attention to the part where Janet yells "Minneapolis!".
